Burt appeared at NJ Rep in the mainstage productions of Piaf in Vienna and Immortal Interlude, as well as the staged readings of Immortal Interlude, The Dead Boy, and The Speck of Dust in Bugsy's Eye with Kim Hunter, directed by Peter Bennett, with whom he worked at Pittsburgh Public Theatre in The Cocktail Hour. Prior to the Pittsburgh engagement, he had appeared in the Gurney play in New York, Cleveland and Paper Mill Playhouse. Burt was in the farewell Yul Brynner production of The King and I at the Broadway Theatre and was also on Broadway in Shaw's Getting Married. Since then he has worked in regional theatres across the nation, as well as appearing in most soap operas and twice on Law and Order.
