JACK CANFORA (Playwright, Actor) Jack Canfora’s writing career includes work for PBS television as well as serving as head writer for the award winning former internet magazine, Angst American Style, where his work was featured on CNN. His play A World With Snow was performed in a staged reading this past March and starred Austin Pendleton. His play Place Setting was read in Los Angeles and starred Steven Weber and Jon Cryer. His sketch comedy writing was frequently seen in Manhattan, most notably on the main stage of the world famous comedy club Caroline’s. The Daily News hailed his sketches as “...very funny and clever.” His one act comedy Viking Funeral was named a winner of the 2002 “National One Act Play Contest.” His one act play Object Permanence also received many accolades, winning a Finalist Prize in Stageplays.com’s international “Best Plays 2000” competition as well as being named a winner of the 2001 “National One Act Play” contest.In 2002 Jack was named “Best Playwright” by The American Theatre of Actors. As an actor, Jack trained at the London Academy of Performing Arts. His favorite past stage roles include Hamlet, Macbeth, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet and Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing. Jack is also a featured performer on the PBS educational television show TV411. |
