DEREK MURPHY (Playwright) Derek Murphy was born and educated in Dublin, Ireland. He moved to New York in 1985. He is the author of several plays, including the comedy A Couple of Chekovs produced by the Riverrun Theatre company in New York, Looking for Sympathy at the Silver Spoon, Miles Over Man, produced by the Stray Dawg Theatre Company in Belfast, Ireland, The Accident, and Harry's Intervention. An earlier draft of A Short Wake toured Ireland in the fall of 2007; it was directed by Marianne Macnaghten, and premiered at the Derry Playhouse October 3rd 2007.
