RICH ORLOFF (Playwright) ) is one of five playwrights chosen to get a Dramatists Guild playwriting fellowship for 2002-03. Rich is the author of the full-length comedies Love Happens (winner, 1994 Playwrights First Award), Veronica's Position (winner, 1995 Festival of Emerging American Theatre), Big Boys (winner, 1997 InterPlay International Play Festival and second place, 2002 Kaufman and Hart Prize for New American Comedy), Someone's Knocking (critic' s pick, Back Stage West, 1998), Domestic Tranquility (winner, 1999 Theatre Conspiracy New Play Contest), Guy Stuff (finalist, 2000 Santa Fe Performing Arts Competition) and the drama Shedding Light (winner, 2000 Abeles Foundation Playwrights Award). His newest comedy, Romantic Fools, premiered at the 2002 Key West Theatre Festival. His plays have been presented at Florida Studio Theatre, Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Arizona Theatre Company, West Coast Ensemble, Dayton Playhouse, Charlotte Rep and other theaters across the country. Four of Rich 's one-act comedies have been published in the annual Best American Short Plays anthology series. His one-acts have had over a hundred productions in the United States, Canada, Scotland, Germany, Austria, Russia, Holland, Brazil, India and Singapore. Rich has taught playwriting at his alma mater Oberlin College, at Miami's City Theater, and for the Connecticut Young Playwrights program.
