This class is focused on developing the techniques needed to be a versatile
actor. Using the principles of Stanislavski and Meisner, actors will
discover a method of working that enables them to live truthfully in
the moment. Work on improvisation, monologues, scene study, character
work, emotional exploration, and cold reading techniques, along with
script and character interpretation – all within a creative and supportive
environment.

| Acting
for Teens Instructor: Donna
Marrazzo |
This class is designed to help students begin to explore their creativity
and to discover what it means to "play a character". Learn
what to do when you first pick up a script, and how to begin the process
of making choices for a character. We will focus on monologues and
scene study, character work, along with cold reading techniques. This
class will give you the confidence needed to express yourself freely
and set you on the way to becoming the actor you want to be.

| Monologue
Workshop Instructor: Barney Fitzpatrick |
The monologue class is designed to help the actor
discover, develop and refine monologues that will help them best express
the range of their talent. It will serve as a place where the actor
can find the balance and depth needed to best attract the attention
of directors, producers, casting directors and agents. For the less
experienced actor it can be a place to work on the techniques necessary
to really understand the acting process. Monologues are like mini-productions
that require all the thought normally seen in full scale performances
but, with little in the way of props, costuming and time usually afforded
the actor and their craft. Our efforts will be focused on finding balanced,
contrasting, well rehearsed pieces that fully show our abilities and
impress those we perform for and give us a way of working that we can
continue to use as we grow as artists.

| Improvisation
Workshop Instructor: Michael Irvin Pollard |
In a warm, safe and non-critical environment we will
learn and practice techniques designed to help us uncover the joy of
our own spontaneity as we strip away years of socialized cautiousness
and self-editing. This study will allow us to build the purest possible
improvisational works-that is improv that is truly inspired and genuinely
spontaneous. Free from the need to be clever and witty, our improvisations
will arise organically through active listening, awareness, cooperation
and fearlessness. The results will be adventurous, original, joyous
and often very funny. You'll be rewarded for your participation with
personal growth including self-confidence and verbal agility, improved
listening skills, and a heightened awareness and sense of well-being
that will inform your day-to-day interactions with others. And it's
just plain fun! A true workout for anyone who appreciates adventures
of the spirit.
