Press Index The New Jersey Repertory Company Opens Professional Acting School in Long Branch
Serious acting students no longer need to travel to New York as the Jersey Shore becomes its own distinct cultural arts center.

Long Branch, NJ - June 19, 2005 - The New Jersey Repertory Company (NJ Rep), the Jersey Shore's premiere professional theatre, is opening a studio for those interested in studying the craft of acting.

NJ Rep's goal is to create an environment where serious students can thrive under the close tutelage of seasoned professionals who have modeled the curriculum after the classes they have taught in some of the top New York acting schools.

In accordance with their mission to discover and nurture new talent, the NJ Rep Studio will now offer students a chance to be affiliated with one of the most respected professional theaters in the Northeast. Students will also receive:

  • The professionalism and intensity of a New York acting curriculum without the travel.
  • The opportunity to study with professional actors who have taught all over the country.
  • Exposure to the teaching of iconic masters such as Stanislavski and Meisner.
  • Small Class Size for individual attention.
  • Customized classes for both Adults and Teens.
  • A close connection with many other regional theatres in the area.
  • A place on the NJ Rep Studio website for headshots and resumes for added exposure.
  • Access to their database of regional and New York auditions.
"Whether you are looking to pursue a professional acting career, participate in community theatre productions, or simply gain confidence in everyday performances, NJ Rep Studio has you covered," states Gabor Barabas, co-founder of the NJ Rep Company and director of the Long Branch Arts Council. "In addition to building a solid foundation in the performing arts, our students will experience many other wonderful benefits that enrich their everyday lives, including increased self confidence, public speaking skills, an appreciation of the arts, a deeper understanding of the cultural diversities that create our social fabric, and the rare opportunity to meet many new friends who share your love of theatre."

The NJ Rep will be hosting an Open House for the acting school on June 29th at 7pm at the Lumia Theater, home of NJ Rep, located at 179 Broadway in Long Branch. This is a rare opportunity to tour the theater's facilities, meet with Donna Marrazzo, the creative director and lead instructor, view a presentation on the courses offered, experience a sample class, and have all of your questions answered by the professionals.
